(Detail from Brueghel's Painting)

There are many versions of bowling played throughout the world and this is yet another verision.

In addition to the balls in the bowler's hands (and aprons), this version appears to have a number of additional balls stacked as targets.

We have not been able to find specific information on the play of this game. From the detail in the painting, it would seem that the intent of the bowlers is to hurl similar balls at a target of stacked balls, and knock balls from the target. Or an alternative might be that the intent of the game is to hurl a ball at a goal beyond the targets and reach the goal without knocking one of the balls from the target stacks.
