Animal Rummy

Animal Rummy

The photograph at the left partially pictures a children's version of the popular card game "Rummy". A standard deck of cards could be used to play this game. This special deck was produced by Whitman Publishing Company, Racine, Wisconsin (US). It was donated to the Museum in 1971.

The box is the type in which the bottom (6.6cm long x 4.5cm wide x 2cm high) has an open left side to hold the cards, and then is slipped into the top (6.7cm long x 4.6cm wide x 2.2cm high) which has an open right side.

There are 44 cards (6.3cm long x 4.2cm wide) in the deck. Backs are pictured in the top row on the right of the photograph.

Each card has a sketch of an animal dressed in human clothes, the name of the card, and a suit symbol. There are 4 suits, and 11 cards in each suit. Instructions are included in the box.
