Game of Hunt

Hunt

Donated to the Museum in 1972, the game partially pictured on the left was manufactured by Watkins Strathmore, Western Publishing Company, Inc. (US) in the 1960s. The deck is housed in a clear plastic box 9.8cm long x 6.6cm wide x 1.5cm thick. (lower right in the photograph).

Showing through the box top is a card with a drawing of a lion. A second card beneath this one contain printed instructions for the game.

There are 34 cards in the deck (9cm long x 5.8cm wide). These cards are somewhat longer than standard playing cards, and it assumed they were designed with children's hands in mind.

Backs of the cards are illustrated in the lower right of the photograph next to the box. There are 17 pairs of cards, each pair illustrates an animal - moose elephant, gorilla, lion, bobcat, shark, wolf, bear, vulture, walrus, octopus, tiger, crocodile, wild boar, buffalo, rhinocerous, leopard. The drawings depict each animail in a "natural" habitat. The name of each animal is printed on the upper left of the card.
