Eatons Carom Board

Carom Board

The photograph on the left is of a 27 1/16 inch traditionally square Carom board with four corner pockets.

It is made of plywood wood stained reddish brown. It has a raised wooden rim around the playing surface.

There are three concentric circular lines surrounding the center.

While this is primarily a Carom board because of its square shape and corner pockets, it can also be used for the game of Crokinole. The green lines indicate the 22" playing area for the game of Crokinole. There are steel screws through dowels as Crokinole deflector pins on the innermost green ring on the surface. Checker board on back

The photograph on the right shows the reverse side of this board. On this side is a standard 8x8 Chess/Checker matrix.

The distributor of this board was Eatons Department Store, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. From documentation, it appears that boards of this type were manufactured about 1956.

Markings around the outside of the matrix indicate that some other games may be played on this board, though instructions for playing these other games were not made available with the board.
