Rifleman Game

Rifleman Game Box

This game was produced by the Milton Bradley Company in 1959. It was donated to the Museum in 1991.

The game is based upon a telecast that was aired from 1958 through 1963. The content of the telecast centered on "Lucas McCain", a homesteader in New Mexico who raised cattle and his motherless son "Mark". "Lucas" was portrayed by Chuck Connors (pictured on the game box holding the rifle); "Mark" was portrayed by Johnny Crawford (pictured on the left of the game box).

Rifle ring

Most of the episodes concerned a number of "desperadoes" whom the Marshal could not control without the help of Lucas. Lucas modified a Winchester with a special ring so that he could fire a round in 3/10 of a second. (See graphic to the right.)

While the content of the telecast generally concerned the conflict with the "desperadoes", the game does not. The game is centered on the ability of the players to assist Lucas and Mark to round-up their cattle!
