This bilingual game was produced by the Ideal Toy Company of Canada in 1981. It was based upon the adventure television show telecast from 1977 through 1983. It was donated to the Museum in 1991.
"CHiP" is an acronym for the California Highway Patrol. The action of the story took place around the Los Angles freeway system where the two principles - bachelor motorcycle state troopers - fight crime and lead an active social life. The game itself is a stylized "racing game" drawing upon the telecast for content.
The principles in the telecast were:
Officer Frank "Ponch" Poncherello - Erik Estrada (extreme left on the box)
Officer Jon Baker - Larry Wilcox (to the right of Estrada on the box)
Officer Steve McLeish (1981) - Bruce Jenner - Olympic Decathlon Champion
