This version of Tic-Tac-Toe Microsoft calls Tick Tactics. It was purchased by the Museum in 1992. It is the PC version that is included on a "floppy disk" as part of Microsoft's Entertainment Pack. The game is for one player, who plays against the computer. As you may expect - it's very difficult for the human player to win a game beyond the "beginner" level..

The human player has the option of choosing one of three boards as illustrated by the pictured screen captures. The human player then selects a play level - "beginner", "intermediate", or "expert". The human player is always the "red marbles" and can select if there is to be a "random start" - which means either the human or the computer might start a game - or if there is to be a human start, or a computer start to a game.

A red marble is placed by the human player by moving the mouse cursor to a square on the board and clicking the mouse button. The computer automatically then follows with its move by placing a blue marble in a square. Every game ends when either the human or the computer has put three marbles in a row.
