All Star Hockey

All Star box

Plouffe reported that this game was copyrighted in 1937. It was donated to the collection some time in the 1980s. It was created by the Canada Games Company, Toronto.

The box (pictured on the left) is a stylized image of a hockey game in progress in a standard rink. Apparently, from the image, it can be assumed that there was a "sell-out" crowd who bought tickets to watch the game. The rink might be in Toronto or in any other major Canadian city at the time.

All Star board

The game board (pictured on the right) folds in half vertically. It is made of thick cardboard and covered with printed paper. Pictured is a hockey rink with the goal areas and other zones marked on the board.

On one side of the board is the "penalty bench". On the opposite side of the board is a time scale either related to minutes of play, or "penalty minutes".

The game was donated without playing instructions and game components. Since other board games of this type used chess pawns as game counters, and also used dice in the play of the game, it can be assumed these may be the missing components. There may also have been a deck of special cards as well. Examples of such components can be found with the other hockey board games in this section.
