A Bilboquet Game from Columbia

Columbian Bilboquet

How to play the game

This Bilboquet is a ring and pin game. The handle is the "pin", while the "ring" is the tethered cylindrical object. The intent is to throw the cylindrical object into the air and place the "pin" in the hole at the bottom of the object as it falls. The weight of the cylinder makes the task easier said than done!

About The Equipment

This Bilboquet was acquired in Columbia, South America, and donated to the Museum in 1972. The eguiptment is machine made of hardwood and is hand tooled and painted. The unpainted handle is 17.5cm long, and tapers at one end into a point or "pin". The tethered cylindrical shaped heavy solid wooden object is 8.5cm long x 6cm diameter. It is flat on the bottom with a hole in the center. The string tether is 25cm long and is attached to the top of this object. The other end of the string is tied around the middle of the handle.
