Munro Multigame Board

Multigame Board

The photograph on the left is of a octagonal multigame board 28.5cm wide.

It is made of wood, with a rim surrounding the outside stained golden brown. A centered circular playing area is designed as a Crokinole board, with three round red concentric circular lines surrounding a "bullseye" in the center. The innermost circular line has 8 raised metal pins - each pin is evenly spaced from the other along this line. In addition to Crokinole, there are other red markings for an Auto Race game, and a verison of Backgammon.

The maker of this board is Munro Games, Ltd., Burlington, Ontario. It assumed that the board was made and distributed about 1965.

Multigame Board reverse side

The reverse of the base (pictured on the right) is made of a smooth compositional material, and is hexagonal in shape.

The playing surface on this side features an 8x8 matrix for Chess or Checkers (lower center of the board); a standard Parcheesi board (extreme right of the board); Snakes and Ladders or Chutes and Ladders (upper center of the board); and a standard Nine Men Morris or Mill Game board (extreme left side of the board).

The seeming design around the outside of these game boards is another game known as Steeple Chase. There were no instructions with the board for playing these games, nor were there pieces for any of the games.
