Bently Sporting Goods Crokinole Board

Crokinole Board

The photograph on the left is of a octagonial Crokinole board 27 7/8 inches across. The playing surface is 27 1/8 inches.

It is made of wood stained light redish brown. It has a raised wooden rim stained a lighter brown. The rim surrounding the playing surface is 1 5/8 inches high. There are concentric black circlular lines surrounding the "bullseye" in the center, as there are on some other boards. There are steel deflector pins covered with a blue plastic material on the surface. These pins may not be the original pins according to the documentation.

The distributor of this board was Bently Sporting Goods, Ltd., Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. From documentation, it appears that boards of this type were manufactured about 1957.

Back of board

Although this board is octagonal in shape on the outer surface, the playing surface is the traditional round board.

The photograph on the right shows the reverse side of this board. The Board is loosley connected to the back. The bottom of the board clearly shows the attachment of the side rails. Since the side rails are so wide, there appears to be no need for a brace along the back of the playing surface but there is a central square on the back for stablizing the board on a table.
