Crokinole Board from Eatons Department Store

Crokinole Board

The photograph on the left is of a octagonial Crokinole board 30 1/2 inches across. The playing surface is 26 inches.

It is made of wood stained dark red. It has a raised wooden rim 1/2 inch high, surrounding the playing surface. There appears to be no concentric circlular lines surround the "bullseye" in the center, as there are on some other boards. Nor are there deflector pins on the surface as is found on other Crokinole boards.

The maker of this board is unknown; however, documentation indicates that the board was sold by Eatons Department Store - which was a major store throughout Canada until it closed in the late 20th century. It is assumed that the board was made to Eatons specifications sometime in the 20th century.

Back of board

The Board is in good condition. Although this board is octagonal in shape on the outer surface, the playing surface is the traditional round board.

The photograph on the right shows the reverse side of this board. The bottom of the board clearly shows the attachment of the side rails, and a brace of the same wood along the back of the playing surface.
