Abba Crokinole and Checker/Chess Board

Abba Crokinole Board

The photograph on the left is of a octagonal Crokinole board 27 1/8 inches wide.

The frame, a lowered rim surrounding the playing surface is made of wood stained golden brown. The round playing surface is made of a compositional material painted white. Three round black concentric circular lines surround a "bullseye" in the center. The innermost black circular line has 8 raised metal pins - each pin is evenly spaced from the other along this line, and covered by plastic tubing. Score values are painted on the board in various areas.

The maker of this board is Abba Wood Products, Ltd., Neustadt, Ontario. The board was made and distributed about 1987.

Checker board on reverse side

The reverse of the base (pictured on the right) is made of a smooth compositional material.

The playing surface on this side features an 8x8 Chess/Checker matrix in the center of the board. Although this board is octagonal in shape on the outer surface, the playing surface for Chess or Checkers is the traditional square matrix.

There were no pieces for either the game of Crokinole or Chess or Checkers with the board.
