Playing Cards: Turkey

Turkish Deck

This deck was purchased in Turkey in 1975. It was published by T.C. Oyun Kagitlari Monopoiu, but may not have been produced in Turkey. This deck has the Belgian-Genose pattern, French indices and French suitcolors.

The flap-top box pictured on the right is 8.9cm long x 5.9cm wide x 1.7cm thick. The printing is in the Turkish language. There is a 3cm diameter circular window on the face of the box which shows the cards inside the box.

There are 54 cards in the deck, 8.7cm long x 5.7cm wide. The backs have the red and white floral design pictured in the first row (upper right). There are two Jokers. The cards are marked with the suit indicators in all four corners of each card.

Numbered cards are 1 to 10 for each suit. Kings are marked with the letter "K", Queens with the letter "D", and the Knave or Jack with the letter "V". Face cards are double headed.

This deck can be compaired with the second deck on the Dutch page, since both have a Belgian-Genose pattern.
