Donated to the Museum in 1984, this is a standard, unadorned 4.9cm x 26cm x 1cm thick Cribbage scoring board made of wood.
The double hole track along each half of the board is divided into 6 sections of 6 holes. Embedded in the drilled-in holes are raised brass fittings which enable the placement of the scoring pegs.
The pegs are .5cm diameter x 1.6cm high. Two pegs are shown on the board on the lower left of the photograph. An additional three pegs are on the left of the photograph.
The pegs have tapered ends to make it easy to place them into the holes on the board, and a bulbous head which enables a player to grasp the top of a peg.
While designed as a standard scoring board, this board lends itself for use by a player with limited vision. If a blind player can use a deck of "Braille" marked playing cards, they can also use this board for scoring when playing Cribbage, since the board has a number of tactile features. For example, the raised brass fittings on the board, and the shape of the pegs.
