RACKO

Racko

This copy of the game of Racko was donated to the Museum in 1981. Although this is a standard game manufactured by Milton Bradley Company, Springfield, Massachusetts, the cards have been modified and include Braille number markings in the upper left and lower right corners. This version was acquired from the American Foundation for the Blind. The game of Racko is one of the games Whitehill considers to be a "Classic American Game.

The box (15cm long x 25.5cm wide x 4cm high) includes the two game components - the cards in a smaller interior box, and the racks. The 60 cards are each 5.5cm long x 8.9cm wide. Card backs (not illustrated) have the name of the game in blue lettering. The front of the cards each have the name of the game and a number from 1 through 60, and the Braille markings.

There are 4 plastic racks - 2 red and 2 beige. Each rack is 14.4cm long x 7.5cm wide x 2.2cm high, and are designed to hold 10 cards in a horizontal position. During the play of the game, a player gets to keep a card in one of the positions on the rack, and accumulates the designated score for that position. The scores are embossed on the left side of each rack.

The game can be played by 2 to 4 players.
