Mineboggle

Mineboggle

The game pictured at the left was produced by the University of Waterloo's Biology & Earth Science Museum in 1981 for use as an activity with young people visiting that museum. A copy was donated to the Museum and Archive of Games collection in 1982 by it's designer Mr. Peter Russell.

The flap-top box (3.3cm long x 6.5cm wide x 9.2cm high) pictures a mine building on a white background (upper right of the photograph). The picture is repeated on the back of each card (lower right). Along with the deck, an instructions card is included in the box. There are 120 cards (8.9cm long x 6.4cm wide) in the deck.

This is a game for 2 to 5 players. The deck includes 32 "land claim cards", 4 "river system" cards (bottom left), 28 "mine building" cards (center second row), 32 "silver bar" cards (left second row), and 16 "problem" cards. "Problem" cards concern such events as fire, helicopter crash, etc.
