11. Hu-ki-hu-ki-kau-la - Tug-of-War (Rope Pulling)
[Page 210]The teams consist of seven men on each side, each with a captain. A piece of kapa is tied to the middle of the rope and it is required to pull it a certain distance to one side or the other in order to win. It is played for money prizes.
Stair1 says that in Samoa "pulling, or trial of strength, was similar to the English tug-of-war, in which each side endeavored to get possession of a pole held between them."
